Getting Better .. Physically AND Mentally !

I'm using the same photo on this blog for a little bit, in hopes reading it frequently will help get the message across !

I wanted to write more frequently in 2024 but I'm not off to a very good start ! Friday 1-5 was an office day and that was uneventful. There were some snow flurries to deal with on my way to Oswego in the morning but it wasn't as bad as the snow when I went to the office in December. We drove out of the snow pretty quickly and weather was clear the rest of the day. Snow was forecast late Saturday into Sunday, so I ran my errands Saturday afternoon. I went to Delta Sonic and filled up, then went to Wegman's for some fresh produce and ended the trip at Walmart in Central Square. Before I went home I stopped at Dunkin' in Mexico for a frozen coffee. It was yummy ! The weather called for varying amounts of snow and we probably got less than a foot once it was done. Yesterday was a quiet day, just work.

Today my Nutrisystem frozen order came so I had to do some freezer shuffling to fit everything in. I'm planning my official restart for Monday 1-15. I'm still coughing some but there is no reason I can't at least modify my calorie intake, even if the treadmill is a challenge. I'm going to have to weigh myself Monday and that will likely be unpleasant. I'm expecting 260 or more and planning on working on losing 100 pounds ... again ! I WILL wear those size 10 jeans again !

Weather today called for a mixed bag of wet snow and rain. We also have a high wind warning until tomorrow morning. We had a bit of snow and some rain but I haven't seen (or heard!) much in the way of wind. I guess the worst of the winds are supposed to be north of me. I live southeast of Lake Ontario and the worst winter weather often stays north of me as it skims off the lake and heads north. By 8 pm the weather had moved north and east of me, so I think we dodge the worst of this latest storm.

Work was productive but a bit boring as our incoming volumes haven't really picked up. I'm so used to being busy and now I'm kind of bored. I think tomorrow I'll start on the 2024 required training. Might as well get it out of the way while things are quiet. I may also spend some time clearing out my email and files. There is a ton of stuff I can delete.

From a health perspective, I feel pretty good. I'm coughing less, blowing my nose less and feeling more energetic. I felt like I was developing a bladder infection late last week, so I bought 2 big bottles of cranberry juice at the grocery store on Saturday. I'm more than halfway through the 2nd bottle and the symptoms have cleared up. Cranberry juice always works for me ! I'm sure the strong antibiotic I took for 10 days was the cause. It kills a fair amount of the "good" bacteria in your gut and it takes a bit for the body to rebuild.

From a food perspective, I still have a fair amount of "junk" in the freezer. It will all be gone by the time Monday 1-15 rolls around. I have 3 or 4 frozen mac & cheese, 2 chicken/mash/corn bowls, some chicken tenders, 4 chicken egg rolls, a few pizza rolls, a few french fries, 16 weiners wrapped in puff pastry, 8 cinnamon roll toaster strudel, 6 klondike bars, about 1/3 of a half gallon of vanilla ice cream and 12 or 13 packages of pop tarts. The pop tarts may not be gone by Monday but that's ok. Out of all these things I mentioned, the egg rolls and the pop tarts are my favorites. I also have a loaf of cinnamon oatmeal raisin bread that I'm working on. It'll be gone by Monday for sure. I also have a bag of "snacks" that I bought for vacation. They are 100 calorie packs of fruit & nuts and snack size bags of M&M's. Those will not be gone by Monday. I also have a giant bag of Ghirardelli chocolates that I bought at Disney Springs. I haven't opened that bag and don't plan to anytime soon. I also have a container of Gardetto's snack mix. I munch on that here and there if I need something salty. I also have 1/2 a bag of chips. The last item I have is the remains of a big tin of Danish butter cookies. I haven't touched them in weeks, so the plan is to toss them.

I really feel ready to start over now. I mentioned before that my mind and my body were not on the same page and I feel like we are close now ! I'm so uncomfortable in this fat body and I hate the way I look. Moving around in bed and getting comfortable is hard again because I'm so heavy. None of my clothes fit. My rings don't even fit. My hip is bothering me again too. I just feel old and fat and ugly. To cheer myself up I treated myself to some Beekman 1802 skin care products. I spent $182 for 4 products and I'm going to do my best to develop and stick to a skin care routine when the package arrives. I'm also considering getting my hair cut short again. I wear it up all the time, so what is the point of keeping it long ? We'll see !

This weekend I plan to take down all the Christmas decorations and put all that away. I also have to shampoo the carpet under the tree as I discovered Abby has been peeing there ! Not sure how much more I'll get done as we're supposed to be doing a birthday party for Barb - she turns 60 on 1-12. I haven't heard anything from anyone about it, so I'm not sure what is going on. I did buy everything I needed to make potato salad, so hopefully the party is still on !

It's almost 9:30 so I'm going to head to bed before I get too tired. The power went out just before 9 but it was only out for maybe 5 minutes. I lit 2 candles and plugged my laptop into the emergency power bank and bam - the power came back on ! I don't hear any wind howling outside, so who knows what caused the outage !
