Day 29: Leap Day !

I originally wrote "good habits" but I'm trying to stay away from negativity - so things are not "bad" vs "good". How about good vs better for positivity ! I think this daily reminder is helping as I've been able to start getting things done! Ironic that today is "leap day" or February 29 and it's also Day 29 of my latest effort to get back on track with diet and exercise. Is that a sign? If it is, I hope it's a positive one! Abby was still with us when I came downstairs this morning, just after 6:30 am. It was a frosty 20 degrees but we received nothing more than a dusting of snow. I think this daily reminder is helping as I've been able to start getting things done! I've wiped the slate clean. Every day I keep trying to recap the prior days because I haven't had the energy or motivation to write lately. I'm letting all that go and just focusing on today. Abby is declining and today she pretty much refused to eat, no matter what I offered. Her little body is tired and without food she will not last long. All I can do is love her and comfort her. She is still drinking but when that stops I will know the end is near. I'm sad but at least she will no longer be suffering. I just don't have the heart to have her euthanized, and maybe that is selfish o...

Day 25: Sunday Vibes

I think this daily reminder is helping as I've been able to start getting things done! I didn't catch the temp when I got up this morning but there was frost on the ground and I could feel the chill when I went out to feed the stray cats. It was in the low 20's by the time I checked my phone for the actual temp. By noon it was 33 and sunny - a far cry from yesterday as we were stuck in the teens. Looks like I won't have to worry about the pipes freezing over the next week, which is great! Abby is continuing to eat better, which is wonderful. Abby continued to turn her nose up at food and was restless all day. I didn't finish my blog as my primary focus was trying to get Abby to eat whatever I could. I got through the work day and was productive, but I'm kind of glad things are still a little slow! I was able to help my boss out with something she likely would have spent half her weekend working on! Monday I will find out what kind of bonus and raise I'm getting, along with my overall rating. My rating last year was as high as they go and I'm just hoping I've maintained that. I...

Day 23: Trainwreck

I think this daily reminder is helping as I've been able to start getting things done! Yesterday was a rough day and last night was even rougher. Abby wouldn't eat, no matter what I offered her, and I was really worried that she was going to leave me. I slept on the couch and that was not comfortable and it was very, very late when I finally went to sleep. I woke up around 5 because I could hear she was going to vomit. She just threw up what looked like water, so maybe she drank too much. I went back to sleep eventually but that 7 am alarm was relentless! I ended up giving in to food and had some Pop Tarts last night and this morning. I also had some of the Gardetto's snack mix. I...

Day 22: The Start of Week 4 !

I think this daily reminder is helping as I've been able to start getting things done! It was a balmy 34 degrees when I got up today and the forecast high was 41. The warmer temp was bringing rain but will be followed by a low of 11 tomorrow night and temps in the teens for Saturday. Looks like after that we'll be enjoying 40's and 50's during the day for the week ahead. I will take it! Breakfast was 180 calorie waffles with sugar free syrup. I've finished one package of the Wegman's waffles. Late morning I had an 80 calorie yogurt. I didn't have a morning snack. Lunch was the usual 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt with a chef salad. I think this daily reminder is helping as I've been able to start getting things done! It was 24 degrees when I got up today and the forecast called for a high of 44. Much better than yesterday! Breakfast was 180 calorie waffles with sugar free syrup. I did not have a morning snack. Lunch was a 230 calorie burrito with salsa and a chef salad. Afternoon snack was 80 calorie cottage cheese and 90 calorie Alyssa's cookies. Dinner was a 260 calorie Italian sausage & turkey pepperoni pizza with roasted carrots. Evening snack was a 140 calorie lemon zest cake with whipped cream. I was up late last night because of my late night laundry, but I was actually awake when the alarm went off. ...

Day 20: Terrible Tuesday

I think this daily reminder is helping as I've been able to start getting things done! It was 7 degrees when I got up today .. and so much for my heat cable. The hot water in the kitchen was frozen. I'm going to have to figure out a solution for the foundation in that area once winter is over. I emptied out the cabinet and put my small electric heater in there. By noon it was 30 degrees and sunny outside and the water was unfrozen It might have been unfrozen sooner but I was on the phone from 10-12 and wasn't able to check the status. I left the heater plugged in but turned off when I reloaded the cabinet and going forward I will leave the heater on low when it gets extremely cold...

I think this daily reminder is helping as I've been able to start getting things done! It was 17 degrees when I got up today but the main part of the house was warm. My bedroom was at 65 and the laundry room was at 61. Abby doesn't seem to understand I like to sleep in when I don't have to work, so she started her visits while it was still dark. I finally gave in just after 7:30, since I need to be able to get to sleep tonight. My plow guy came just after 5 am and did a much better job clearing the snow. I always have to shovel in front of the driveway but I shouldn't have to do much else today. The forecast high temp for today was 25, which sucked because I had to go to the g...

I got up shortly after 8:30 only because Abby was determined to have her breakfast. I didn't get to sleep until late. I was in bed just before midnight and to my amazement my plow guy came just as I settled down in bed! That was a shocker and I wonder what the neighbors thought. LOL!I don't even worry about the pipes freezing now that I have the heat cable in place. I do plan to secure it better once winter is over, but I'm leaving it alone for now since it's working fine. Show showers rolled in around 10 am but it was the light fluffy stuff and it didn't last long, so no big deal. Abby started bugging me when it was still dark out and I refused to get up. I was tired and needed some sleep. I got up just after 8 and once she had fresh water and a full tummy she settled down to snooze. The plow woke me up before 5:30 so I tried to view my ring camera to see how much snow we got. The camera was offline so that meant the wifi wasn't working. I knew I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep so I got dressed and headed downstairs to reset the router. The clock on the stove was flashing so that means the power went out at some point during the night. I think this daily reminder is helping as I've been able to start getting things done! It was 14 degrees when I woke up this morning and it dipped to 12 by 7:30. I knew it was cold because I woke up during the night and needed another blanket - which NEVER happens. I think it was just me because it was 65 in my bedroom when I went to bed and it was still 65 when I got up. The downstairs was at 69 and the laundry room was about 62. The forecast high for the day was a balmy 35 but there is a winter storm warning from 3 pm today until 10 am tomorrow. We had a quick blast of snow around 4 pm and got maybe an inch of the light fluffy stuff. We'll see if more sneaks in during the night. Bre...

I think this daily reminder is helping as I've been able to start getting things done! It was 17 degrees when I woke up this morning and it dipped to 16 around 7:30 am. We had maybe an inch of snow late yesterday and an inch or two overnight. There is snow in the forecast every day right through Sunday! It was 27 degrees by 6 pm and we have a winter storm warning for perhaps 3-5 inches of snow from late Thursday into Friday. Breakfast was waffles (160 calories) with sugar free syrup. I never got around to my yogurt but I had my protein shake (120 calories) at noon. Lunch was the usual pepperoni pizza melt (220 calories) and a chef salad. I didn't have my afternoon snack until after 5 ...

It was 28 degrees with a winter storm warning when I got up this morning. That came out of nowhere ! There is also snow in the forecast Thursday, Friday and Saturday. So much for the early Spring that the groundhog predicted ! Breakfast was french toast (120 calories) with the last bit of sugar free syrup. I'll open a new bottle tomorrow. Around noon I had my yogurt (80 calories), then my salad and later a pepperoni pizza melt (220 calories).
