Day 18: Snowy Sunday
This picture will continue to be the header of my blog until I'm able to establish some better habits. I originally wrote "good habits" but I'm trying to stay away from negativity - so things are not "bad" vs "good". How about good vs better for positivity ! I think this daily reminder is helping as I've been able to start getting things done!
It was 19 degrees when I got up today but the house was warm. I got up shortly after 8:30 only because Abby was determined to have her breakfast. I didn't get to sleep until late. I was in bed just before midnight and to my amazement my plow guy came just as I settled down in bed! That was a shocker and I wonder what the neighbors thought. LOL!I don't even worry about the pipes freezing now that I have the heat cable in place. I do plan to secure it better once winter is over, but I'm leaving it alone for now since it's working fine. We had snow flurries on and off but tomorrow looks to be snow free. I'm glad I have the day off so I can get to the grocery store. I really only need fresh produce. Weekends like this are the reason I tend to stock up on everything. Years ago I lived from paycheck to paycheck and credit card to credit card, so it was difficult to stock up. The first winter I lived here (2005/2006) we had a massive blizzard and were basically snowed in for 2 weeks. We had over 10 feet of snow in a matter of 2-3 days. I had to trudge through the snow to get gas for the snowblower but it was no match for the massive mound of snow at the end of the driveway. A kind person came along and plowed us out for $20. Anyhow, I still remember the lean days and this is why I "stock up" on everything. A few weeks ago I thought I had run out of maple syrup and I couldn't understand how that happened. Well, turns out it didn't - I had 2 bottles in the cabinet in the pantry! It's not like I don't have a store nearby - in a pinch I could walk to Tops or Kinney's. I just don't want to have to trudge through the snow ever again. The weather was perfectly fine for driving today but roads will be in much better shape tomorrow and I have no reason to rush out to the store.
Breakfast was 160 calorie waffles with sugar free syrup. Late morning I had an 80 calorie yogurt with my 2nd cup of coffee. Lunch was a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt. Afternoon snack was 80 calorie cottage cheese & 120 calorie mandarin oranges. Dinner was a 250 calorie meatloaf sandwich with carrots. Evening snack was a 140 calorie chocolate cupcake with whipped cream.
The goal for today was a little snow shoveling, a little laundry and finishing up the password changes. While working on this yesterday I discovered there is a free standing Bath & Body store out in Clay! I had no idea! I plan to visit it very soon.
Well, a "little" snow shoveling turned into a lot of snow shoveling - about 45 minutes worth. I'm really not happy with the guy I hired to plow this year, so I may look for someone new next year. I spent 45 minutes cleaning up the driveway and clearing off the front steps. In his defense, I have that orange cone out there and he plowed up to it. I moved it out of the way, in case we get more plowable snow this season. I don't know if he is a one man operation of it he has other people that plow for him. For all I know he has some young kid out there plowing. My yard is all ripped up too, and I expect him to fix it so we'll chat when he comes to collect. In the end this was great exercise for me and I don't feel bad about not using the treadmill today. I spent the morning working on my passwords and account updates. I finally finished around 6:15 pm but then spent another 2 hours with accounts that were not on my list. I finally feel like I've completely secured all of my accounts that could possibly have been found in my old phone. I also deleted some old documents that had old passwords. Going through this process I found a few accounts that I hadn't even documented the password. Next step is to pull my lists of saved passwords from my browsers (Edge and Google Chrome) to clear out any old entries and add anything I need to my password document. Once I've reviewed everything I'm going to delete all passwords and then reload them as needed. I've let my browsers save passwords for years and when you do that you end with a lot of junk.
I added a new feature at the end of the blog .. a weight loss ticker to track my progress!
