Day 19: Frigid Monday
This picture will continue to be the header of my blog until I'm able to establish some better habits. I originally wrote "good habits" but I'm trying to stay away from negativity - so things are not "bad" vs "good". How about good vs better for positivity ! I think this daily reminder is helping as I've been able to start getting things done!
It was 17 degrees when I got up today but the main part of the house was warm. My bedroom was at 65 and the laundry room was at 61. Abby doesn't seem to understand I like to sleep in when I don't have to work, so she started her visits while it was still dark. I finally gave in just after 7:30, since I need to be able to get to sleep tonight.
My plow guy came just after 5 am and did a much better job clearing the snow. I always have to shovel in front of the driveway but I shouldn't have to do much else today. The forecast high temp for today was 25, which sucked because I had to go to the grocery store.
Breakfast was a 270 calorie Jimmy Dean Delights breakfast sandwich. I didn't have a morning snack. Lunch was a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt. Afternoon snack was 80 calorie cottage cheese and a 110 calorie can of peaches. Dinner was green beans and a 250 calorie chicken enchilada. Evening snack was a 140 calorie lemon zest cake with whipped cream. I also had a glass of skim milk with some chocolate syrup, since I was low on calories for the day and I wanted to finish the open jug of milk.
I spent the morning drinking coffee, watching YouTube and dreading going out into the arctic. I also tackled the saved passwords in Edge. I deleted everything that I had already documented and found a few more online accounts that weren't on my list. So the work of updating passwords is not done. I deleted all the saved passwords as it seemed like the easiest way to clean up that data. As I log in to accounts I will have to enter the username/password and allow Edge to save it. This will give me clean data.
By about 12:40 I forced myself off the couch to get dressed and go to the store. The sun was out and the roads were clean, but it was only 21 degrees .. ugh. I left just after 1 pm and since the driveway was plowed correctly I had no trouble getting out. When I got home I cleaned up the edges on both sides, cleared what I could across the bottom of the driveway and cleaned off my front steps. That only took me 9 minutes. I went to Wegmans and got a few things and then stopped at Walmart in Cicero for a "few" more .. $200+ more .. lol! The pet food is the biggest expense. I got another 30 pound bag of dry food even though I have 1/2 a bag plus another full one. I also got a 40 pack of canned food for the strays, even though I have an unopened one and maybe 10 cans on the kitchen table. I also bought a 30 pack of Fancy Feast for my girls, even though I have plenty. That's probably over $100 right there. I also bought a cute pink & white pair of leggings. I always check the super soft ones that I like to see if there are any new patterns. I also bought 3 tubes of toothpaste even though I have one that is nearly full and 2 unopened tubes. I only bought it because it's the Arm & Hammer brand I've been using for years. Walmart hasn't had the sensitivity variety for a long time so either they had a production issue or people were stealing it. I've heard people steal a lot of that type of stuff and then sell it on Amazon or eBay. I got home just before 3. I was starving but I held firm to my diet and didn't buy any "treats" and I avoided the fast food joints. I'm low on Nutrisystem breakfast items so I picked up 2 boxes of Wegmans brand multi-grain waffles. Two of them is 180 calories and that is within the Nutrisystem guidelines. There's only 6 in a box so the 2 boxes are 6 meals. I looked for pancakes too, but they were either in large packages or too expensive. My gigantic Nutrisystem order will probably ship sometime this week so I won't go hungry! Saturday I cleaned my air fryer so I can start using that to cook the Nutrisystem pizza's or chicken breasts. I have a ton of them. I get the chicken breasts and meatloaf sandwiches when my freezer space is limited, because the boxed meals take up a lot of space. Many people store the boxed meals without the box, and I may try that when I get my new tubs for the freezer.
Speaking of freezers, the low for tonight is a frosty 10 degrees! We'll be in the 40's come Wednesday but then back to the 20's for Saturday, then 30's on Sunday. Talk about your roller coaster ride! I'm so glad to have had the heat cable on hand and I'm glad I have a spare. My pipes would freeze tonight for sure without it!
I've really enjoyed this 3 day weekend. I may not have much to show for it, but getting through all my password resets is a huge weight off my mind. Between losing my phone and all the hacking going on it's really important to use unique passwords to minimize the impact of a data breach, and I've done that! Every single one of my accounts has a unique high strength password and I've turned on MFA wherever it was available. The extra step is a bit of a pain but I feel like it's necessary. I still have some cleanup to do in my Google account, because it also stores passwords. Most of them need to be deleted since I've reset them all. This will be my next project. Losing my phone also made me set up my new phone to not show notifications on the lock screen as an extra security step. If nothing else, losing my phone forced me to clean up my online footprint and make it as secure as possible. I also cleared out my bookmarks on Google Chrome and then imported the updated ones from Edge. Now both browsers have the same bookmarks.
I love the diet ticker that I'm putting at the bottom of my blog now. It will be an easy way to go back and look at my progress. The display doesn't look very good right now because the difference between my starting weight and my current weight isn't very much. I tested the ticker with a 20 pound difference and it looked perfect. So as I lose the weight my ticker will look nicer!
