Time Is Running Out !
I'm using this photo on the blog every day for a little bit, in hopes reading it frequently will help get the message across !
I had said I wanted to write more in 2024 and I keep reminding myself to "do what I can". The blog doesn't have to be long and involved.
Today was another relatively slow work day. I did pick up a couple new things from my boss but it didn't take long to get them on their way. I completed another compliance class and worked on deleting files. I have thousands to go through ! It's not good to have our work be so slow, because I know the company is always looking to reduce staff. Hopefully things will pick up soon !
Weather today was quiet. We had a few snow flurries. The forecast for the next couple days is nothing more than flurries. Sunday brings a returns to temps in the 20's and teens. I'm not looking forward to that ! I know my heat will struggle with those overnight lows, but it doesn't seem like it struggles as much as it did before the siding. I won't freeze - I have 2 portable heaters and plenty of blankets !
Tomorrow looks to be another slow work day so I plan to get my eggs and potatoes cooked for my potato salad. That's the most time consuming part of the job. It'll only take me a few minutes to put it together on Saturday. I have everything I need for the week ahead so I don't have to make a grocery store trip this weekend ! Yay !
From a food perspective, I still have 3 mac & cheese, 2 chicken/mash/corn bowls, a few pizza rolls, one serving of chicken tenders, 4 cinnamon roll toaster strudel and 4 Klondike bars in the freezer. I also have some cinnamon oatmeal raisin bread and about 12 packages of pop tarts, along with a half a bag of chips and some Gardetto's snack mix. Also the snacks from vacation, which includes Atkins bars that I forgot about ! I also have 8 bottles of soda. I don't expect all of this to be gone by Monday. Today I ate the egg rolls, most of the fries (I threw some away) and some chicken tenders. I also finished the vanilla ice cream. I still have the Ghirardelli chocolate, but no desire to dive into it !
So what did I eat today ? Orange juice, 2 toaster strudel, 2 slices of cinnamon oatmeal raisin bread (breakfast & morning snack), the last of the egg rolls (lunch) and fries (dinner), some chicken tenders (dinner), the ice cream with chocolate syrup and whipped cream (afternoon snack), and a bottle of soda. I finished a container of sour cream by adding some buffalo sauce and using it as a dip for the egg rolls, since I had 4 egg rolls and only 1 packet of sweet & sour sauce. The egg rolls come in a package of 8 with 3 packets of sauce. I guess they expect you to cook them all at once. I also had ranch dressing on the chicken. That will be finished with the last of the tenders. I may toss the chips, pizza rolls, chicken and ranch. I threw away a TON of food when I started Nutrisystem. I'm sure the value was well over $100 at the time, so this would be nothing. It doesn't sound like I ate a ton of food today, but it's all high calorie, high sugar and high fat.
I may not have ALL of the "junk" gone by Monday, but I'm not going to let that stop me from restarting Nutrisystem. I forgot to mention that when I organized the freezer yesterday I found 3 pieces of stuffing left from Thanksgiving ! I will have those with the Nutrisystem turkey dinners. What I may do with the mac & cheese is use it as a "side" with a Nutrisystem entree. Instead of eating the entire tray, I would just have a scoop. I figure it would be good for 3 meals. However, once all this stuff is gone I will go back to 100% compliance. I'm not buying any of it again.
I have no doubt that Monday is going to be a very hard day. It will be hard to face the scale. It will be hard to face the treadmill. It will be hard to eat healthier food. I have to just tell myself that it will be worth it when I can get those size 10 jeans on again. I don't like the way I feel and I don't like the way I look and I have the power to change that. So let's do this !
I slept a little better last night, since I went back to using my old pillows. I was still restless and it took a while to fall asleep, but I feel like I got more rest than I've been getting. I'm coughing a lot less too, so that may have helped as well. I am still not 100% over this respiratory illness, but I'm getting there. I've been sick for a month !
Here's something funny .. I washed both of my water bottles a while back and they've been sitting since before I went to Florida. Tonight I decided to fill one up and start weaning myself off the soda. It took me 5 minutes to figure out how to get the rubber seal back in place !
On that note, it's time for bed !
