Day 5: Not A Great Start !

This picture will continue to be the header of my blog until I'm able to establish some better habits. I originally wrote "good habits" but I'm trying to stay away from negativity - so things are not "bad" vs "good". How about good vs better for positivity !

I had a good weekend but I didn't get very much accomplished. This is a typical cold weather pattern for me. When it's cold I just don't want to move. There's a fair amount of laziness in there too ! I did do well when it comes to food and right now, that is the most important thing !

Breakfast today was a breakfast sandwich. Lunch was a pepperoni pizza melt. I never got around to making my salad, even though I cut up all the lettuce yesterday ! Afternoon snack was cottage cheese and a can of peaches. Dinner was roasted turkey and green beans. Evening snack was a lemon zest cake with whipped cream. I also had a yogurt as I was really hungry and I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep without some protein !

I didn't exercise during lunch today as I felt gross and needed a shower. I washed my hair too and it felt wonderful ! I also took the time to wash the band of my Fitbit as skin oils build up on the silicone and that is also gross ! Once I was fresh and clean and Abby was fed, I sat down to enjoy the rest of my lunch hour. I was feeling shaky and needed to eat quick, so I had the pizza melt. Technically, I should have had my protein shake at noon. If I had, that wouldn't have happened. Since I wasn't exercising during lunch I figured I could have it later ... dumb move ! At least it didn't happen in the shower !

Work was super busy and I was a little stressed for about the first hour. I tend to take on too much and when multiple projects need attention at the same time I freak out a little. Once I settled in things were fine and I got a lot done.

After work I really wanted to motivate myself to get on the treadmill and I just couldn't do it. I was too tired and hungry. My Amazon and Skechers orders came today so I unpacked that stuff. I love all 3 pairs of Skechers so I'd say I'm set for shoes for at least a year ! One pair is light pink, one is white and one is blue. I ordered a good size insulated bag from Amazon, so I'd have enough room to transport my food for the day when I have to start going to the office. If I don't end up having to go to the office (there has been silence since the alarming email we got last week), I can use it when I'm going to a family gathering or even summer grocery shopping. I also got an eight pack of 4 ounce plastic containers. I figured those could hold salad dressing or salad toppings. I also got a new pair of slippers. I bought a size large and they fit perfect. Last item was the pipe fitting for the sump pump outlet. It's working fine right now so I'm going to leave it alone until the nicer weather is here.

I checked in on my bank account and my bills tonight to make sure all is in order. I'm coming to the conclusion that credit scores are somewhat of a scam. I owe nothing but a car loan and a mortgage and pay my credit cards in full every month. Still, my score goes up and down like a yoyo, probably because of the "balance" on my Visa card. I pay the "statement balance" as opposed to the actual balance each month. I spent years paying massive amounts of interest on credit cards and now they are paying me ! I basically float myself a loan every month and they give me reward points for it. I have over $1100 in reward points right now. I think I've mentioned before that I look at this as a little savings account. My credit score is 846 today, according to Discover, but a couple weeks ago it was 850. WTF do you have to do to keep a steady 850 ? Apparently you can't use any credit cards OR you have to pay the full outstanding balance every month, as opposed to the statement balance. In reality, the minute variations make no difference in my financial life. They just irritate me because I am so proud of having achieved an 850 ! When I charged all the Disney stuff my score dipped down into the 830's but it didn't take long to rebound.

So .. what am I doing right ? Well, I'm sticking to the Nutrisystem food plan. That's about it ! What do I need to work on ? Well, a lot.

  • drink more water
  • shower every day
  • skincare every day
  • brush teeth every day
  • exercise every day

These are not hard asks. Four out of 5 are EASY !!! This is where I need to focus more effort, now that my eating is under control.
