Day 6: Keep Going
This picture will continue to be the header of my blog until I'm able to establish some better habits. I originally wrote "good habits" but I'm trying to stay away from negativity - so things are not "bad" vs "good". How about good vs better for positivity !
Despite our lack of snow winter still has us in its grip. It was a frosty 20 degrees when I got up this morning ! The reward for that is a sunny day ! Looks like overnight temps will be warmer starting tomorrow and rain is coming ! I'm glad I have my sump pump outlet ready to go !
From a food perspective, I'm doing well. I still need to focus on exercise and self care. Today I managed to get myself dressed before work, so that is a step in the right direction. It makes it that much easier to progress to putting my shoes on before noon and then getting my fat ass on the treadmill. The problem with showering and all that is that I sit around too long in the evening and then I'm tired (lazy). Soft goal for today is to exercise after work and then have a shower before dinner.
Breakfast was french toast with sugar free syrup. Late morning I had a yogurt and at noon I had my protein shake. Lunch was the usual pepperoni pizza melt and a chef salad. I didn't have my afternoon snack. Dinner was a meatloaf sandwich and broccoli. Evening snack was a chocolate cupcake. I'm only at 930 calories for the day.
I read this morning that country singer Toby Keith passed away from stomach cancer. He'd been battling it since the fall of 2021 and his body finally gave out. His death hit close to home for me as he was only 62. I will be 62 in August and some days I think about the fact that my remaining years are limited. Will I die young like my dad or hang in there until my 80's, like my mom ? I might have 10 years (dad was 72 when he passed) or perhaps 20 (mom was 82). Will I have good health ? I haven't been to a doctor in years and I probably won't go until I get this weight off. I don't want to be labeled "obese", since that is where I am right now.
On that note, I got my fat ass on the treadmill at noon. I completed 25m32s and this was definitely an effort ! With 25 minutes to go I went with 2 minutes at 2.2 mph and then 1 minute at 2.5 mph. I did this until the end of the workout. I can't really go much faster than this right now but I know that with time I will be able to increase my pace. My hip was also giving me some discomfort, so that didn't help. Losing the weight will help that ! The first half of the day went well, so the key is to continue the momentum through bedtime !
Work was busy and I'm happy about this. The day goes by so much faster when you are focused on getting things done. I'm glad I did all of my "required" training in January so I don't have to worry about that as the year progresses. If you let that stuff sit you'll find yourself up against the deadline for completion before you know it !
