Day 8: The Start of Week 2 !
This picture will continue to be the header of my blog until I'm able to establish some better habits. I originally wrote "good habits" but I'm trying to stay away from negativity - so things are not "bad" vs "good". How about good vs better for positivity !
It was 32 degrees when I got this morning and that was a welcome relief from yesterdays 22 !!
Yesterday was a better day ! I showered, did skincare AND I brushed my teeth ! Yes, it is sad that a 61 year old adult has to make an effort to do these things. What can I say ? Self care is hard ! I also exercised yesterday and stuck to my diet, so it was actually a perfect day !
Breakfast today was a Jimmy Dean Delights breakfast sandwich (270 calories). They are SO good ! I could eat them every day but the calories mean I have to skip my morning yogurt, and I'm not willing to do that every day. Morning snack was a chocolate protein shake (120 calories) Lunch was a chef salad and pepperoni pizza melt (220 calories). Afternoon snack was cottage cheese (80 calories and sliced peaches (110 calories). Dinner was a meatloaf sandwich (250 calories) and brussel sprouts. Evening snack was a chocolate cupcake (140 calories) with whipped cream.
I managed to get my fat ass on the treadmill during lunch ! This is 2 days in a row and this is great ! This was the longest workout so far: 33m19s. I started out at 2.2 mph until 30 minutes to go and then switched to 2.5 mph for 1 minute then reduced speed to 2.2 mph. I did these 1:1 intervals until the end of the workout and although it was definitely a challenge, I feel like it wasn't as hard as yesterday ! I didn't feel quite so breathless in the beginning and I feel like the breathlessness subsided faster. With time I know I can get my endurance back - I just have to pace myself and not overdo it. My hip and knee were twinging around 11 am so I took 2 Tylenol. If I hadn't, I'm not sure I could have made it through the workout ! In a shocking twist ... I WORKED OUT AFTER WORK !!!! Yep, I got 20m30s in. I started at 2.1 mph and when it hit 20m to go I increased to 2.2 for 5m, then 2.3 for 5m, then 2.4 for 5m and then 2.5 for the final 5 minutes. I wasn't sure I could do it, but I did !! I now have 5 workouts in the books for 2024 !
My food intake today was on a stretched out schedule. I didn't finish my lunch salad until about 4 pm and I didn't have my pepperoni melt until just before 4. As a result, I had my "afternoon snack" after my workout. This isn't a bad thing as evening hunger was often a problem for me. I started get hungry about 6:45 so I decided to take a shower and THEN make my dinner ! It's a good thing I did, because once I ate I was not moving !
I checked in on my bank account tonight and my Federal tax refund has arrived. The funds won't be available until 2-13, which is fine as they're destined for my savings account. My paycheck is also there and those funds will be available tomorrow. I spent so many years worrying about money and it's nice to be in a place where that doesn't consume my every waking moment. With my job up in the air, there is still some worry but I have $500k in retirement savings, so I won't starve. To that end, I treated myself to a new tablet tonight ! I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ with an 11" screen. This is slightly bigger than the one I have and it has 64G of memory, as opposed to the puny 16G my current tablet has. I will continue to use my old one for iFit and the new one can be used for games and more fun stuff ! I needed a new case for my old tablet and one for the new, so I ordered them from Amazon. I also bought a couple of items to help with my home pedicures. The sports bras from Walmart are supposed to be delivered tomorrow, we'll see if that happens. The shower curtains for the closet won't be delivered until 2-20. Hopefully they are not out of stock !
Today was another good day. I followed the Nutrisystem plan, I exercised twice, I showered and I did skincare. I'll brush my teeth when I go to bed too. I brushed last night too, so hopefully I'm on the road to better habits !
