Day 9: TGIF !

This picture will continue to be the header of my blog until I'm able to establish some better habits. I originally wrote "good habits" but I'm trying to stay away from negativity - so things are not "bad" vs "good". How about good vs better for positivity !

It was 41 degrees when I got up this morning and the forecast high for today was 54 ! The highest I saw on my phone was 52, but I'll take that ! Saturday is going to be 50 and rainy and then we return to temps in the 30's.

Breakfast was french toast (120 calories) with sugar free syrup. Morning snack was a protein shake (120 calories). Lunch was the usual pepperoni pizza melt (220 calories) and a chef salad. Afternoon snack was cottage cheese (80 calories and a can of mandarin oranges (120 calories). Dinner was a new item - a chicken bacon ranch quesadilla (240 calories) and broccoli. I liked the quesadilla but I didn't taste bacon or ranch and the filling is supposed to be cream cheese (?) but tasted more like ricotta. I slathered it with salsa and it was fine. I will definitely get more of them as they aren't bad, take up less room in the freezer and they only take 2 minutes to cook. Evening snack was a lemon zest cake (140 calories) with whipped cream. I also had a yogurt (80 calories) since I never had my breakfast yogurt.

I forgot to mention in yesterdays blog that I weighed myself again. The scale read 264, which was disappointing, but it was only ounces different from the prior day. I feel like this is normal fluctuations and possibly fluid retention from too much salt. I've been putting butter flavored salt on my veggies. I am also not drinking enough water. I woke up today with painfully dry eyes and a dry mouth, so I was definitely dehydrated. I weighed myself again this morning and I was back to 263. So, that is 5 pounds for week 1 ! Not bad considering I did not exercise every day.

I think today was my longest workout for 2024: 33m42s plus 6m WU/CD for a total of 39m42s ! I tried to do this workout using the programmed speed but the intervals went up to 3.2 mph and I am nowhere near able to sustain that. I did 3 mph for maybe a minute but 3.1 and 3.2 were just not doable. So with 25 minutes to go I switched to 2m ladder intervals with 0.4 mph difference in speed between the interval and the rest. So for example 2.1 mph up to 2.5, then 2.2 mph up to 2.6, then 2.3 up to 2.7, then back down. I overdid it a bit and couldn't motivate myself to get back on the treadmill after work. My feet were sore and I'm not going to push myself too hard. The goal here is to gradually push my endurance. Here is the mistake I'm making: I'm chasing the monthly challenges that iFit throws out there, so I'm doing workouts that are outside my capabilities for a virtual "badge" on the app. What I need to be doing is following workouts that ARE within my capabilities. I will finish the 2 challenges I started this month and then try to avoid falling in to that trap in March. At my current weight, 39 minutes on the treadmill in one workout is an amazing achievement, so I'm going to focus on that.

Part of my Walmart order arrived today, 3 sports bras in size 3X. I was worried they were going to be loose but one of them was actually hard to put on ! Once it was on it fit fine but sometimes it is a battle to get them on ! The other 2 were definitely not loose but I they give me just a tiny bit more room around the rib cage. Now I can set my 2X's aside until the 3X's get loose ! The 4th bra is shipping from some other seller via USPS, so who knows when I will see that. The curtains still say 2-20, hopefully they don't end up cancelling that part of the order as I really like the curtains I picked out. They are white background with big colorful butterflies. My tablet from Costco was shipped and should be here Tuesday. I'm looking forward to that ! New electronics are always fun ! My Amazon order is expected on Tuesday too, so I'll have the new case for my old tablet and a case for the new one.
