Friday 2-2 and We'll Call This Day 2 !

This picture will continue to be the header of my blog until I'm able to establish some better habits. I originally wrote "good habits" but I'm trying to stay away from negativity - so things are not "bad" vs "good". How about good vs better for positivity !

Yesterday was a good day ! I did not deviate from the Nutrisystem plan ! I also showered and did skincare early, then made sure to brush my teeth at bedtime. I removed the chocolates from my room so there was no temptation. We'll call that Day 1 ! I weighed myself this morning and the reading was 266. We're going in the right direction ! First goal is to reach 260. I'm not looking beyond that because I don't want to get discouraged. I have a long road ahead of me and I need to remain positive !

Breakfast today was waffles with sugar free syrup. Late morning I had a yogurt. Morning snack was a chocolate protein shake. Lunch was a pepperoni pizza melt with a chef salad. Afternoon snack was cottage cheese and mandarin oranges. Dinner was chicken fettuccine alfredo over riced cauliflower. Evening snack was a chocolate cupcake with whipped cream.

Work turned out to be productive ! Shortly after 9:30 am my boss dropped what I thought was a "sudden" 30 minute team meeting scheduled for 10:30 onto our calendars. My heart dropped, as sudden meetings on Friday's are typically NOT good news ! Since it included the whole team (not just those of us in Syracuse) I figured it had nothing to do with our return to office, but I was still wary of bad news. After 40 minutes of angst I realized it was a rescheduled and shortened regular team meeting ! Our meeting was supposed to be 9-10 and my boss had other commitments and not much to share, so she shortened the meeting. Whew .. that was a relief ! The meeting was nothing and during it I checked the website that forecasts our bonus for this year. Mine is nearly $9800 !!!! After taxes and other deductions I'll be lucky to see $5k - but I'll take it !!

Today I got the first workout of 2024 in the books ! It was 24m55s plus 6 minutes of WU/CD (warm up/cool down) during my lunch hour. I obviously can't go with the programmed speeds so I started at 2.1 mph then with 20 minutes to go I decided to do 2 minutes at 2.2 and then 1 minute at 2.5 for the duration. These were good intervals for my current endurance level. I definitely broke a sweat and was a little breathless, so I was working ! My heart rate spiked as high as 143 but it didn't stay there for long. The max target for my age is 159 (220 - 61 = 159) so I was safely within the range. These speeds take me back to my starting point in March 2019 but I know with hard work I can get back my former endurance. I started today - that is what matters ! I scheduled an evening workout too but ended up scrolling on my phone for 2 hours and watching tv instead. Ambitious goal is 5 workouts this weekend. We'll see how I do !

After my workout I put my salad together for lunch and still had 12 minutes to relax, finish my protein shake and reflect on how good that workout felt ! I'm ok with going a little slow right now because I've gained so much weight. At my current weight the calorie burn will be a little higher, but as you lose weight you have to work harder to maintain that.

I had a productive afternoon and was glad when 5 pm rolled around. Tomorrow I need to swing by the post office to pick up my Kohl's order and then go to the grocery store. I might need gas too - I'll have to check. My Amazon order is supposed to be delivered tomorrow but the tracking doesn't tell me where the package is, which is kind of weird. My Skechers order is coming Monday, so I'll have 3 brand new pairs of slip in shoes !

Today was Groundhog Day and the groundhog says we're going to have an early Spring ! I will take that ! Temps are supposed to hit the mid 40's by Thursday and there is no rain or snow in the forecast. We still have plenty of "winter" left so we could still see significant snow. We've had monster blizzards in February and March in the past, so we are not really out of the woods.
