Day 45 & 46: Weekend Update
This picture will continue to be the header of my blog until I'm able to establish some better habits. I originally wrote "good habits" but I'm trying to stay away from negativity - so things are not "bad" vs "good". How about good vs better for positivity ! I've been up and down but I'm not giving up!
It's Sunday and Day 46. I haven't felt much like writing lately, so a lot of my blogs are incomplete. I used to "finish" them before publishing, but now I'm just publishing them "as is". Combining the weekend into one is great and I might consider combining the week into one!
Yesterday I lounged on the couch until after 4, finally heading out to Wegman's at 4:20. I had to get gas so I did that first then headed to Wegman's. Being that it was later in the day they weren't quite as busy as usual, which was nice. I didn't really need anything at Walmart so I bought everything at Wegman's. I might have paid a little more for a couple items (whipped cream, Diet Coke, gnocchi), but everything else I bought were staples that I always get there. Celery, radishes, lettuce, fresh broccoli, fresh brussels sprouts and another tub of Locatelli cheese. I looked for Irish Soda bread but they had none, so I got a loaf of oatmeal raisin cinnamon bread. I also bought chicken teriyaki dumplings and 2 veggie egg rolls to have for dinner. A lemon cake fell into my cart too .. lol! I heated the egg rolls using the air fryer and they were amazing! The dumplings steamed perfectly in the microwave because I covered them with a wet paper towel.
Today was another lazy day on the couch but I put dinner in the oven when I got up, just after 8 am. I had bought a ready to cook pan of corned beef, cabbage, potatoes & cabbage at Wegman's yesterday. I thought my sister, who is recovering from bunion surgery, liked it and I planned to take a plate to her .. but it turns out she only eats the cabbage, and her daughter and husband were making lasagna today anyways. I didn't get invited for dinner .. oh well! It was ready just after noon so that was my lunch and my dinner today. Sigh. It was not worth the $25 i paid. The meat was chewy and the veggies were sparse. They clearly cut back on these meals, probably as an alternative to raising the price. I will not buy it again and I'm kind of glad my sister passed on it, because I'd have been embarrassed to share it with anyone. I have enough for another meal left but it's likely to go in the trash. Yet another waste of calories.
I've decided to go back to Day 1 starting Tuesday. Why? Well, I haven't been trying very hard to lose weight. Today is Day 46 of failure upon failure upon failure. I will finish the lemon cake tomorrow, so that will be gone. I've bagged up the candy and threw that in the freezer. I do have the oatmeal cinnamon raisin bread but I'm not going to sweat about that as it's not a sugar filled item. I don't know why I can't get back on track but I'm going to keep trying. I got the Total Gym set up today, finally! I will need to reset the "ticker" at the bottom of this page once I log my weight again. I am sure I have gained more weight.
I've been watching YouTube videos of a guy that does a lot of work with foundation drainage and it got me thinking about my issue with cold air coming in through the foundation in the kitchen. Instead of trying to address the issue from the basement, I'm thinking I can fix it by bringing the soil up to the bottom of the siding. I can probably order a bunch of bags from Lowe's and have it delivered or just buy a few bags at a time and work on it throughout the summer. I could also spray expanding foam into the holes i the foundation before I do that. I'll start working on it when the weather warms up for good. The key is having it done before next winter! I was thinking it was going to have to be a foot or more high but then I looked at my photos from the siding project and realized the siding is pretty close to the ground, so it wouldn't need to be that high. I think I could pile soil there, pack it up against the foundation and then use edging to keep it in place. I'd angle it away from the house so I don't send more water into the basement. This might be a good project when I'm on vacation Memorial Day week, unless I feel like getting out there sooner. I'd like to plant some hardy greenery that will come up each year, such as Hosta.
So much for Spring! Temp is dropping back to 32 overnight and snow is in the forecast Monday through Wednesday and on Friday. They're only calling for flurries or snow showers, which is not uncommon right into early April. Speaking of April, the eclipse is 3 weeks from tomorrow. I need to pick up some eclipse glasses if I want to enjoy the view, since we're in the Path of Totality. I keep reading stories saying you should make sure your car has a full tank of gas and you have plenty of food before the day arrives, because tons of people are expected to head into these areas. I always have tons of food but I will make sure to think ahead when I shop on March 30. I think they're being a little dramatic, but who knows! People will read these stories and clean out the store shelves, like they did when COVID arrived. They're even preparing for people to stop on highways when the darkness hits. It sounds very surreal!
It's after 9:30 and tomorrow is a work day, so I'm heading to bed.
