Another Day 4 - Life Goes On

Today is my first day being unemployed since 1985. It's a scary place and reading online articles about high paying remote jobs drying up doesn't help. What I see on LinkedIn directly contradicts those alarmist articles, so I'm not going to start worrying just yet. I'm less than 2 weeks into my job search and though I may not find a 6 figure job, I am sure I will find something to pay the bills. The only real concern is medical and dental insurance. If I can't find a reasonable job I may go ahead and buy a fake Bachelor's degree online. What do I have to lose other than a couple hundred bucks ?

I went to bed very late last night but I was up before 8 am today. I don't want to get my days and nights turned around so I don't plan on letting the late nights become a habit. I went online to file for unemployment and right at the end of the process it said there was an error and to try again in a few hours. Hmm. Is that a sign that I'll have a job soon ?!?!?! I really hope so.

Looks like I probably wasn't even considered for the job I wanted, again. When I click on the link in the email, it says the job has been filled. That may mean nothing .. it just might mean a bunch of people applied and the posting is no longer open. However, the job is still listed on LinkedIn, so who knows. I will continue to hope but I will also search for and apply to more jobs.

I headed out around 12:10 and the first stop was the post office. Most of the mail was from the casino .. lol ! Next stop was to pick up my glasses. They fit perfect and I'm glad to have them ! Next stop was Wegman's. I picked up lettuce, celery and radishes so I can start having salad again. I haven't had any fresh produce since I broke my hand and had the bout with bloody diarrhea, so it's been about 2 months. The lettuce looked much nicer than it had been, so I'll hope for the best. I do plan to rinse the celery and radishes and I'll remove the outer leaves before I cut into a head of lettuce. I have no idea what caused the bloody diarrhea, but since it went away and hasn't returned I'm thinking it was a food borne bug or perhaps something from touching the bowls the stray cats (and raccoons) eat from. I'm being more careful about washing my hands after I handle their bowls. I also bought a pack of 2 hamburgers and a loaf of apple cinnamon bread at Wegman's for a treat. I have 2 rolls in the freezer I need to use up and I've been craving a cheeseburger. Last stop was Walmart. I didn't need a lot so I got yogurt, diet coke, chex mix, french fries, a couple candy bars, and all the stuff for the pizza I've been having for dinner lately. I have 7 crusts and the goal is to make them last 2 weeks - which means not having it every day. I also got a pack of 2 chocolate chip cookies. I wanted a sweet treat but I knew buying a full package of cookies would be a mistake. I spent about $100 total.
