Another Day 14: Life Goes On

 

Today is day 9 of being unemployed, because holidays and weekends don't really count. Considering I'm getting paid, am I really unemployed ? I guess so. It's going to continue to be a scary place until I have a job, and hopefully I clinched that Monday ! For now, I consider this time off to be a vacation. I got paid for 12 vacation days and today would be day 9 of that.

I got up around 9 am today after having slept on the couch all night. I was too lazy to get up and go upstairs. I spent the morning watching YouTube and playing Cookie Jam. I briefly checked LinkedIn and my email. I haven't heard anything from Kurt with Accenture and ended up sending a followup email just after 4 pm. I was going to wait until next week but decided to just follow up today. I'm feeling a little desperate as I really want this job and I know I would do well. Ambrosia texted me to let me know her fake degree passed a background check for National Grid and she starts a new job there on 7-1. I know Cary will get a job with no problem and Chuck isn't looking for one, so I don't want to be the only one who can't get hired. Laurie will eventually have to find a new job and I'm sure someone will snap her right up too, even though she doesn't have a degree. I'm a little concerned that Kurt didn't reply to my thank you email on Monday, nor have I heard from him all week. Who knows .. maybe he is just super busy or hasn't gotten the final approvals on the job requisition. I'm not actively applying for other jobs right now. If I don't get the Accenture job I will likely buy a fake degree and then start applying again. We were supposed to have a zoom call tonight to catch up but it's been postponed again. Maybe I'll have a job lined up by the time we actually have that call !

Right now I'm feeling kind of depressed and I think getting a job will help change that. I do need to get off my a$$ and start exercising again and I plan to launch that goal tomorrow. Today I finally got over my fear of fresh produce and had a salad for lunch. It really tasted good because I haven't had salad since I broke my hand.
