Another Day 29: Life Goes On

 

Holidays and weekends don't count, so I'm holding at 19 days unemployed. Considering I'm getting paid, am I really unemployed ? I guess so. It's going to continue to be a scary place until I have a job and after yesterday's disappointing news, I don't know when that's going to happen. For now, I consider this time off to be an extended vacation. I haven't lost hope on the Accenture job, but I don't think it's going to happen. Sad all around as I'd be a huge asset to them. I think Kurt knows that, but he may not have the clout to change their rules.

Last night was the drum circle and dinner at Francesca's. I still can't really taste anything, so I can't say I enjoyed my meal of homemade gnocchi with marinara sauce. I think my taste is slowly returning as the sauce seemed sweet to me, which I do not like. I also caught a whiff of garlic today when I heated the leftovers, so that was good news ! The drum circle was fun but the AC was not working and 2 box fans in a room of 20 people beating on drums was not pleasant. It was 2 hours long and that was kind of tiring. Still, it was a fun night out with Michelle, Mike and Lauren. I got home around 9:45 and ended up sleeping on the couch. I had stripped my bed and was too tired to make it last night.

I spent a short time looking at LinkedIn jobs and submitting a new application to a company called Halliwell. My goal right now is going to be submitting one per day. I can't spend hours on LinkedIn as it will drag my mental health into a dark place. I will find something eventually. Around 8 pm I discovered Infosys had a consulting job open, so I applied to it. It's pretty much the same job as Accenture and considering I did a lot of work on their account at AT&T, I'd be a great fit for this job ! The title is actually Senior Operations Manager. I like the sound of that ! Once that was done I put the job search to bed for the day.

I spent the entire day on the couch watching YouTube videos. It was muggy and 80 degrees, so I had zero motivation to get up and do anything. Shortly after 8:30 I threw a pizza in the oven and headed upstairs to put sheets on my bed. It was HOT up there so I'm glad I put the air conditioner in a couple weeks ago.

As expected, it was raining when I got up this morning. It had rained during the night and we had some downpours around 9 or 10 am, then it cleared up. I'm glad Doug was able to mow the lawn yesterday ! Thunderstorms are possible after midnight tonight and rain is in the forecast tomorrow too, so my grass would have shot up. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday have a chance of rain as well, so getting the lawn mowed after yesterday would have been a challenge.
